about

1989 as Hip Hop & rap was rapidly growing Mr. BaD started to do what Riza *WuTang Clan, did years later. To put together a Krew or Crew or posse of talent from the same hood (North Babylon, Long Island) and separate yet together push them out & keep them together as a unit.

A natural happenings for some of the Supa BaD (dj) Crew, both helpers & friends who 'hung out heavy' were gifted rappers...and a small percentage of the neighborhood was already taking Rap very very serious.
More naturalness was the talented beat maker, keyboard player & fantastic MC Eric Easley *cousin to eLBee, Easy E of the Supreme Force MCs. Together with Cool Cee & Freddy Fox were probaby the 2nd from North Babylon to drop a record in 1986, while our sometimes neighbor LL Cool J was already on the radio. Literally. lol.

For these younger teens to be in BaDs, slowly building up, studio was the norm. After school hang out, weekend jams, mini parties, CYFERS! The turntables speakers & microphones were turned uP!

JonZhaft had a presence many can't touch (this) and with word clarity and often shrilling stories he was on his way! As a true lover of music & dance & skills he took the world of NY House easily.

NY Club music at this time was varied & not 'commercially' available, so the unheard of, specifically the weird & underground was not heard by many & it took lots of push to get some Rappers onto & into a House flow. Mr. BaD says everybody & their Momma was dropping Hip Hop Beats with a scratch. As typical BaD would do, off onto & into other directions the masses don't dare go. His mind said HOUSE & HIP HOP together!

Normal for a rapper falling in love with slow beats to want to rhyme to 'slo' beats' and top Dawg producer said' we'll slow down in time. As he (LB) was key on another North Babylonian, Albert McCoy. Bka Kut Wizard Albee. His raw & magically twisted preproductions
of Hip Hop to blend into his own...and they did, VERY WELL!

The plan *only known to eLBee's subconscious was simple & wise:
Record, record record! Then get indy deals for the Hip House stuff,
bring up the artists names, then go after bigger labels & place the artists.
When records were starting to be manufactured, LaRhon took on a manager (to be unnamed) and things started to go FUK within the crew.
Till this date, it's very unclear. Was no fights over money, for there was no money to fight over. We all had day jobs & BaD put ALL his money into building up the studio(s). During that time he secured a deal to run & distribute a new label from the Apexton Family which became ReD Heat.
Cultural Ozzie a speed talent of a rapper, Bahamas born & potential to be a pop star. He was up next with something very similar to the crossover dance tune "I Like To Move It' by the Mad Stuntman (also Bahamian), however, before it was sorted for Easy Street OR Red Heat, seems the inner crew wasn't happy & most the artists leaned onto the corrupt manager who promised FORTUNE & fame.

...so where they at?
Asks Mr. BaD...as I am (*Suzy Starr) writing half of all what he's saying to write the other half of his finished sentences later, for this entertaining info-matic piece of Long Islands Music history.

Wishful thinking of a North Babylon street map to actually illustrate how close these talents family homes are to each other. It's quite astounding.
AS IS THE MUSIC. Ahead of it's time? Or simply TIMELESS?

As youtube often says: let THE LISTENER decide. Interview with eLBee BaD The Prince of Dance Music by Suzy Starr.
